Amsterdam, 12h layover. Where I wandered aimlessly and sleepless through the city, where all the pretty canals live. Brought the wrong shoes, so traded them in at a Vintage store for some Converses with chairs on them. Also found the yarn store of course.
Slovenia Day 1 of cycling, Lake Bled. The church on the island, where every wish can come true. Sat here on a bench, knitting socks, and enjoying the view.
Slovenia Day 2 of cycling, Bohinj's Savica Waterfall. The most famous waterfall of them all. But that wasn't the best part. The best part was the stairs....
Slovenia, Day 3 of cycling, Zelezniki. Just because it was pretty and I didn't want the town to end.
Slovenia Day 4 of cycling, Skofja Loka. Had the best meals here. The town's name means "Bishop's wet meadow".
Slovenia, Day 5 of cycling, Ljubljana. Capital city, lively, lots of students, lots of food and drinks, and lots of music! Wish I got to see the Philharmonic orchestra play. I'm 'booking marking' this until I return...
Slovenia Day 6, rest, Ljubljana Metelkova. An area covered in street art, grunge, and dangling shoes. I felt different when I entered this area.
Slovenia, Day 7 of cycling, Vrhnika. Traded a yarn bomb for a free drink at the Human Fish Brewery because they loved their new yarncat friend so much.
Slovenia Day 8 of cycling, Postojna. Known for its caves and now happy coloured benches, and Role Bar (0.80euro wine + 0.90euro coffee).
Slovenia Day 9 of cycling, Kodreti. Wine wine wine wine wine wine wine wine wine wine wine wine wine.
Slovenia Day 10 of cycling, Lipica Horse Centre. RAIN to wash off all our sweat and to freeze our toes and unseen horses to save the day.
Italy Day 11 of cycling, Trieste. The Adriatic Sea and the cover charges and the sparkly buildings. The pleasant, accidental surprise when (NBD) cycled into Italy. It was part of the plan the whole time, I just didn't look at the details.
Slovenia Day 12 of cycling, Koper. LOVE was in the food. Vegan and gluten free at Na Stopnickah saved me that day.
Slovenia Day 13 of cycling, Piran. And finally, the coast, the sea level, the beautiful and dreamy sunsets. Time to say a rushed goodbye to Slovenia.
Amsterdam, 15h overnight layover. Spent the evening hanging out at Door 74 SpeakEasy, and broke my neck sleeping at various spots in the airport until my flight the next morning. One for the lively night life.
